Utrecht, Grachten

Utrecht has two major Grachten which wind through the inner circle of the city. This drawing was made at one of them on a beautiful summer afternoon. The light between the trees caught my attention and was the main inspiration. Of course a lantarn and the proverbial bike always present in Holland were just there to be put in the picture.

Sunflowers Umbria, Italy

Very amazing to sit in the morning heat in a field of sunflowers, somewhere in the beautiful mountains of Umbria. I got up at six and started out really early. Once it got so hot, that I could not sit any more I marked the spot to get back the next morning. I liked the picture and it has been used for many purposes such as this years Season's Greetings.

Trees in New Mexico

This was a new technique I learned from a dear painter friend. Working wet on wet and from a projected picture. Interesting to let everything flow and not get panicky when the water finds a new way. A good watecolour manages and finds the new possibilities growing from that.
